WANNAPLAY was composed for WANNAPLAY? a project created by Jan Boiten & Caecilia Thunnissen.

WANNA PLAY? is a large swing set with 16 seats which can be installed at outdoor festivals, parks and any another large public space. A software system (created by sound designer Mark Thur) transforms the movement of each seat into music. In Dramm’s composition WANNAPLAY, each pair of swings is connected to a series of sung phrases, pre-recorded by singer Nora Fischer. As the swinger moves higher, a chain of musical phrases are triggered by the swing’s position and speed. The result, with up to 16 swings moving independently, creates a large, sonorous chorus.
